Kathleen B. Christesen

Kathleen Christesen is founder and President. She earned her B.B.A. from Marymount University and worked for many years at Fairfax County Public Schools (VA), where she participated in a mentoring program supporting young students. Through these experiences, Kathleen saw firsthand how important strong reading and math skills are to a child’s educational journey—and how early support can make a meaningful difference in the years that follow. Her own experiences playing instruments and the joy of reading helped shape her commitment to expanding children’s access to reading and music through Balint Charities.

Francis J. Balint

Francis J. Balint, Jr., is a member of the board of directors. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia (CLASS 1979) and the University of Virginia, School of Law (JD 1982).

Steve Balint

Steve Balint is a member of the Board of Directors. A graduate of Virginia Tech (Class of 1980) with a BS in Civil Engineering, and Tulane University with a Masters of Engineering (Class of 1983).

Amy Balint

Amy Balint is a member of the Board of Directors. A graduate of the University of California with a B.S. in Mathematics, Virginia Tech with an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, and George Mason with an M.A. in Educational Leadership. 

Patricia Maddox

Patricia Maddox is a member of the board of directors. She earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from Virginia Tech and is certified (ODU) to teach middle and HS mathematics.
